"If you enjoy what you do, you'll never work another day in your life"
Last night I was flipping back and forth between Sunday night football and the Emmy awards - I watched Amy Schumer win the much deserved award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series. What perked my attention though was when she thanked "the girl who gave me this smoky eye." I screamed because that "girl" is my good friend Andrea Tiller. I have been meaning to post about this mega talented lady since I started my blog but after last night I figured there's no better time than the present.
Fashion and beauty have been a part of Andrea's life from a young age, always inspiring her imagination. Her passion, paired with natural skill, has lead to her becoming a sought-after Makeup & Hair Artist for fashion shows, print advertising, editorial campaigns, entertainment clients, high profile special events, as well as bridal makeup and personal cosmetics shopping. Her undeniable talent, paired with a friendly demeanor, professionalism and attention to detail resulting in flawless faces, have contributed to her reputation as a leading beauty artist in Canada.
Originally hailing from Arequipa, Peru and initially based in Vancouver, Andrea's international experience has taken her to Milan Fashion Week, working multiple seasons backstage for fashion design houses such as Emilio Pucci, Moschino and Salvatore Ferragamo, as well as teaching makeup workshops in Latin America. Andrea has traveled extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia as makeup and hair artist for internationally acclaimed recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen. She has prepared her celebrity client for major red carpet events, including the MTV European Music Awards, NRJ Music Awards in Cannes and the Billboard Music Awards, marketing campaigns for Candie's, Coca-Cola, and Burt's Bees and hit television shows such as American Idol. Beauty looks created by Andrea have been featured in US Weekly, NYLON and Flare Magazine. Andrea loves and plans to continue traveling the world, finding inspiration from what she sees around her on every journey to contribute to her unique style.
I met Dre on the set of a photo shoot I did with Karolina Turek back in 2010, we hit it off immediately. I just got the most down to earth, positive vibes from her. After meeting her I quickly became an admirer of her work. Any time I had an event to go to I would have her work her magic on me. Admiration quickly turned to friendship and I feel so lucky to now be able to call her a good friend. You can't help but be drawn into her world and how she creates such beautiful masterpieces on her clients faces. She takes so much pride in her work and it definitely shines through.
Having had the opportunity to get to know Andrea on a personal level I can honestly say that she is one of the sweetest people I know. She has such incredible drive, ambition and heart pursuing her passion and has shown no sign of slowing down. Andrea has this care, dedication and connection to her clients that is so genuine and down-to-earth. Andrea is such a special person with a big, beautiful, heart of gold.
About a year ago Andrea told me she was signing with The Wall Group (http://www.thewallgroup.com/ - the creme de la creme of agencies) and moving to New York to pursue her dreams! I was beyond ecstatic for her and knew this was a huge step in her moving towards the greatness she was destined for.
It has been such a pleasure watching Andrea’s journey and career continue to grow. She has traveled the world creating beautiful canvasses as she goes. The roster of celebrities she has worked with is endless and she is most currently Hollywood It Girl Amy Schumer's go to make up artist (cue Amy's Emmy acceptance speech). All the attention, praise and accolades this lady is getting right now is so deserved, she is second to none and at the top of her game. This girl has her eye on the prize and I foresee even bigger things to come. Total world domination, get it girl!
