I have been wanting to check out Rowena’s Inn on the River for years now and was truly blown away when my boyfriend Jordan surprised me with a weekend getaway for the Canada Day weekend. We could not have been in a more beautiful setting to really appreciate how lucky we are to live in Canada. There’s something really amazing about close to home vacations that make you feel world’s away.
Rowena’s Inn on the River is at the top of my list for quick and easy getaway’s. If you’ve never been I suggest you book it now!!! The property was recently sold to Asian buyers and they will take ownership of the land in approximately four years time. Your opportunity to enjoy this BC oasis has an expiration date so don’t hesitate – you won’t regret it!!!
Time stands still from the moment you catch your breath. Secluded on a 160-acre waterfront estate, Rowena’s Inn on the River is a grand, English-style manor that was converted into a boutique resort. The Inn whispers the historical tale of the Pretty Family evident by furniture exemplifying a timeless stylishness. Pretty Estates Resort is home to Rowena’s Inn on the River, Sandpiper Golf Course and the Clubhouse Restaurant. The Pretty Family’s historical tale traces back to the late 1800s. An English-manor, once the Pretty’s family home, has been converted into a grand B&B blending old-world opulence with new-world convenience.
We stayed in Nelson’s cabin – one of the four private and serene cottages on the property. From the comfy King sized bed, to the huge wood burning fire place (which we used, even in the middle of summer lol!), to the Jacuzzi tub, everything was immaculate and made you feel right at home. There are no TV’s in the cottages which I LOVED!!!
Waking up to our signature country breakfast, going on a therapeutic forest stroll, unwinding in the waterfront pool and hot tub, enjoying Afternoon Tea, or simply surrendering to a rejuvenating spa treatment are just a few of the amenities that are available.
Sandpiper Golf Course is heralded as one of British Columbia’s leading courses. Framed by the rugged backdrop of the Cheam Mountains, Sandpiper Golf Course is ‘forest golfing’ at its finest with abundant wildlife in two distinctly different environments — the open fairways alongside the turquoise waters of the Harrison River and the quiet serenity amongst the ancient 180 ft. Douglas Firs.
We played an 18-hole round of golf on Saturday and you couldn’t help but be distracted by the stunning 360 degree views. The grounds are immaculate, the layout and design of the course is spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
I think what stood out the most to me was the people that worked at the Pretty Estates Resort. Every staff member we came into contact with from the front desk, to the Pro Shop, to the groundskeepers, to the servers at the Clubhouse Restaurant – everyone was so incredibly friendly, helpful, and provided remarkable custom service. I can’t say enough good things about the atmosphere they created for us. Jordan and I will definitely be going back as soon as possible.
